Mahindra XUV700 – The SUV That Feels Alive

Hey brother, hope you’re doing good.
So, I just felt like talking about this car today — the Mahindra XUV700. You know how sometimes you see a car on the road and it just hits differently? Yeah, this is one of those.

I remember the first time I saw it near our town’s showroom — white colour, shining under the sun, those LED lights glowing even in daylight. I stood there for a while and thought, “Man, this one really looks special.”

First Look – Bold But Not Overdone

Let’s be honest, most SUVs these days look the same. But this one, theMahindra XUV700, has its own identity.
The front grille is big and clean, the new Mahindra logo looks sharp, and those C-shaped DRLs — they look crazy good at night.

The side profile is nice too, not bulky, not small. The door handles pop out like fancy cars, and the alloys suit it perfectly. Even the back part, simple tail lamps but classy.

I like that it doesn’t scream for attention, yet it gets all of it. That’s rare.

Engine and Drive – Strong and Smooth

Now, coming to the real thing — the engine.
There are two choices — Petrol and Diesel. Petrol is the 2.0-litre turbo with around 200 horses. Diesel is the 2.2-litre mHawk, the same one Mahindra is known for, with power up to 185 hp.

The petrol one feels more city-friendly, very smooth and silent. The diesel is proper highway stuff — strong, stable, and full of torque.

You can choose manual or automatic, and the top one even comes with AWD. That’s nice if you travel in hilly areas or just like a little adventure.

I drove the diesel automatic once on the highway — bro, it pulls like a train. You press the pedal, and it just goes. Even at 100 or 120 km/h, it feels rock solid. Mahindra really worked hard on this one.

Inside Feel – Comfort Like a Lounge

When you sit inside, it honestly feels like a different world.
That big screen setup on the dashboard looks modern. The steering feels nice, buttons are solid, and everything has that premium touch.

Seats are wide, soft, and the panoramic sunroof makes the cabin look huge. They call it Skyroof, and yeah, it suits the name.

There’s dual-zone AC, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and even Alexa voice control.
And the Sony sound system — bro, 12 speakers with 3D sound. When you play music, it feels like a small concert inside.

The second-row seats have good space. The 7-seater version adds an extra row at the back — okay for kids, not adults for long trips.

One more thing — the cabin feels solid. No rattles, no cheap feeling. You sit inside, and it just feels safe and nice.

Safety – You Can Trust This One

Now, Mahindra made this one really safe. The Mahindra XUV700 got a 5-star rating from Global NCAP. That’s not easy to get.

It’s got 7 airbags, ABS, ESP, Hill Hold, Traction Control, and more. But what really surprised me was the ADAS system — that’s the advanced driver assist thing.

It helps with Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep, and even Automatic Braking.
I tried it once on an open road — the car literally slowed down on its own when it saw another vehicle ahead. Scary the first time, but really smart.

It feels good to know the car’s thinking about your safety too.

Price and Variants (in our town)

Alright brother, now let’s talk about price.
Here in our town, it starts around ₹14.5 lakh and goes up to about ₹27 lakh for the top one with AWD.

Here’s roughly how it goes:

VariantEngineGearboxPrice (approx.)
MX Petrol2.0LManual₹14.5 Lakh
AX3 Petrol2.0LManual₹16.8 Lakh
AX5 Diesel2.2LAuto₹19.5 Lakh
AX7 Diesel AWD2.2LAuto₹27 Lakh

Honestly, for what you get — comfort, power, features, and safety — it’s worth the price.

Colours – Pick What Fits You

You get these colours:

  • Everest White
  • Red Rage
  • Midnight Black
  • Electric Blue
  • Dazzling Silver
  • Napoli Black

My favourite? Everest White. It makes the car look clean and classy. Red Rage also stands out, though — it’s loud, but in a good way.

Mileage – Better Than You’d Expect

Petrol gives about 10–12 km/l in the city, 14 km/l on the highway.
Diesel gives around 14–16 km/l in the city, and 17–18 km/l if you drive calmly on open roads.

For an SUV this size, that’s solid.

A Small Story

One of my friends bought the AX7 Diesel Auto a few months back. We went on a trip to Manali — around 550 km. The car didn’t even blink.

We had five people inside, luggage, music blasting — and still, it climbed hills like nothing. Even on curvy roads, it felt safe and smooth.

At night, those headlights light up everything ahead. And yeah, we did get a few jealous looks on the way.

By the time we came back, we all had one thought — “this car’s built for long drives.”

What’s Good and What’s Not

Good things:

  • Looks premium
  • Feels solid
  • Powerful engines
  • Comfortable ride
  • Packed with features
  • 5-star safety

Not so good:

  • Third-row space small
  • Infotainment system hangs sometimes
  • Long waiting period

But to be fair, no car is perfect. And this one’s flaws are pretty small compared to what it offers.

Final Words – From the Heart

Alright brother, let me be real.
The Mahindra XUV700 is that one SUV which makes you feel proud every time you drive it. It’s not just about the engine or features — it’s about the feeling.

When you sit behind the wheel, it feels strong. You feel safe, comfortable, and a bit special too.

If you’ve got a budget around ₹15–27 lakh and want something that looks good, drives great, and lasts long, this is the one.

“This SUV doesn’t just move you from place to place — it actually makes you enjoy the journey.”

That’s what the Mahindra XUV700 does.
